Top Ten Tuesday 12

11:54 AM

Today's top Ten is a little bit discouraging. I hope none of you run away crying. In fact, I hope you all just learn to laugh at this pessimistic outlook on life via "demotivation posters." Pick your favorite!

I generally like to cheer people up. I will be optimistic and say that today, I'm cheering up the pessimists.

I'll close with results from last week's top ten: Everyone likes #9!
"I have many moments like that. I just usually have them on my own and NEVER tall anyone about them. Ok, so I don't have that many, but I do have them every once in a while. Ok, I never have them. Just trying to make them feel better."

Love you all! T

  1. I like the individuality one; and it's so true. Lots of people think they're something great...I think maybe King Solomon wrote the caption for that one. But now that I think about it, isn't it paradoxical that I'm asserting my opinion about a poster that scoffs at individuality?

  2. i too agree w/ jake on the individuality one, but my favorite one (and my vote) is going to have to be the success one. yeah... b/c it's true.

  3. Either Indiffernece or Potential. I've always wanted to be an astronaut and you just did the success one to me.

  4. i'm going to vote for stupidity. because it's fun to laugh when people do stupid things even when it's me.

  5. I think I'm going to have to go with "Compromise." Two other things to note, 1) the football player in red is probably from Ohio State, so I hope everyone knows that OSU tackles all other schools dreams of Success in football. 2) the engineering nerd that still somehow exists in me noted that those gears aren't going to turn. Don't even try, you will not have Success :)

  7. Crap, you're right! So, maybe I need to look at pictures a little more carefully... I want to express my great sorrow for misleading everyone with faulty information. Thanks.

  9. My favorite one has a picture of a sinking ship.

    It says: "Mistakes"

"It might be that the only purpose for my life is to be a warning to others"

  10. I'm having a hard time choosing between individuality and stupidity...I'm going to have to go with Individuality...it's just great. I like how it's subtle.

  11. I like the intimidation. Not because of what it says but because the big dog is staring at the little dog and it's cute. :)

  12. I like 'em all. I have a really hard time making decisions. Count my vote for everyone. Then none of them have to feel left out.

We used to sit in the computer lab in high school and read these, wasting our time. Good to have them again now. In college... sitting in the lab... wasting my time.

  14. motivation....because I never really understood the point of the inspiartional posters teachers and such hung on their walls....it seemed like a waste of space...they could have hung a picture of cookies and that would have been better...mmmmmm cookies

  15. I would have to go with the one on individuality. I kind of liked the motivation one because it made me laugh.

  16. Paul- oh my, that is one of my personal favorites, too. I forgot to post it! Maybe next time...

    Kristi- you would

Tammy- I think the principal of whatever school you teach at will understand that making your day via laughter of demotivation posters is much more important than the childrens' self-worth

Natalie- thanks for thinking of everyone

    All- thanks for voting!

  18. Yep, this is pretty much the most popular top ten ever.

If I wasn't so humble I'd point out the fact that I'm pretty sure I was the impetus behind your two most popular ones.

    But, since I'm humble, I won't...

  20. Nice use of impetus Luke. (For some reason that sounds like a derogatory term to me)

Why is this Top 10 so popular, you wonder? I'll tell you why: pictures and humor.

Pictures and humor are two things I always have time for. What a great treat this blog was after a long exhausting semester. This blog demanded little or no mental work of us. It didn't even require a sustained attention span. It was a welcome cavalcade of colors and shapes, a veritable wonderland of amusement and wit, a stroke of dark comedic genius. Sort of like 4th of July fireworks but funnier and smarter. Nice. What a feast for the senses. Nice job T. But you really raised the bar for the blogging-as-entertainment industry. Can we have some more pictures soon?

ps, there are funny video clips on the despair website. Maybe the next post could feature those.

  21. Jake,
Thank you for the insightful analysis on my website; much appreciated. Funny you should mention despair.com- I just learned of it last night and watched some of those video clips myself. I'm grateful for your suggestion, and I will look into that. T
